Uwagi

  • It is most commonly combined with Rz. Curcumae E Zhu, particularly in the treatment of cancer.
  • It has demonstrated an ability to inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
  • It is well suited to treating severe Qi and Blood Stagnation.
  • It breaks down old, hardened, accumulated masses.
  • Its main use is for masses in the hypochondrium and abdomen.
  • It is indicated in pain of the cardio-diaphragmatic region.
  • According to one source, this herb depletes vital energy and should always be paired with Rx. Ginseng Ren Shen.
  • It invigorates the Blood more strongly than Rz. Curcumae E Zhu, though E Zhu is the stronger mover of Qi.
  • San Leng and Hirudo Shui Zhi both break up Blood Stasis and act on the Blood level of the Liver channel. San Leng, bitter and neutral, also enters the Spleen and the Qi level, acting more forcefully and quickly to attack and break up accumulation, though it can readily injure normal Qi; it additionally relieves Food Stagnation.
  • Dry-fried Sparganium Chao San Leng has a gentler breaking-up action and an enhanced ability to relieve Food Stagnation, making it suitable for epigastric and abdominal distention and pain caused by overeating.
  • Wine-fried Sparganium Jiu Chao San Leng moves Qi and breaks up Blood Stasis more effectively, and is used for abdominal masses and accumulations arising from Qi and Blood Stagnation.
  • Vinegar-processed Sparganium Cu San Leng has its harsh, drying quality tempered and enters the Liver channel, which strengthens its ability to reduce Blood Stasis and relieve pain.
