Uwagi

  • As a gargle, it addresses sore throat, tonsillitis, sores of the mouth and tongue, and a bone lodged in the throat.
  • Taken internally, it treats Hot Phlegm.
  • It addresses any condition of Qi closure marked by labored breathing and clumped Phlegm-Fire.
  • As an eye wash, it relieves redness, swelling and pain of the eyes.
  • In skin sores and ulcerations, the unprocessed form clears Heat and eliminates toxins, while the calcined form, Duan Peng Sha, drains pus and speeds recovery.
  • Peng Sha and Calamina Lu Gan Shi share the abilities to nourish, prevent putrefaction, resolve toxicity, and treat eye conditions. Peng Sha's main role is clearing Heat and dissolving Phlegm to prevent putrefaction, with its action centered on the mucous membranes, whereas Lu Gan Shi dries Dampness and promotes tissue regeneration, making it the better choice for open sores or non-healing wounds with prolonged pus drainage.
  • The calcined form, Duan Peng Sha, restrains, inhibits and dries, suiting it to weeping lesions.
  • Borax is toxic, and many countries prohibit both its external and internal use; the lethal adult dose is 12-30g.
