Uwagi

  • This herb has two principal varieties: Chuan Yu Jin, milder and more oriented toward moving Qi, suited to weaker patients; and Guang Yu Jin, stronger and more oriented toward moving Blood.
  • It also helps relieve depression.
  • Its capacity to dredge the Liver and purge the Gallbladder makes this herb quite valuable, comparable to Rx. Bupleuri Chai Hu; it also addresses sharp pain, similar to Corydalis Yan Hu Suo and Melia Ku Lian Gen Pi.
  • Its action resembles that of Rz. Curcumae Longae Jiang Huang and Rz. Curcumae E Zhu.
  • It is well suited to Heat in the Blood accompanied by Stasis.
  • While it clears the Heart well, its power to open the Orifices is weak.
  • It treats withdrawal-related seizures in Liver disorders.
  • It treats pox toxin invading the Heart.
  • This herb is also used as a yellow dye in textiles.
  • Both Yu Jin and Rz. Curcumae Longae Jiang Huang promote the movement of Qi and Blood and assist the Gallbladder in clearing jaundice, with Yu Jin being the stronger of the two here. Jiang Huang is warm rather than cold and addresses Wind Bi, which Yu Jin does not; Yu Jin, for its part, enters the Blood Level to cool Heat and break up Blood Stasis while moving Qi at the Blood Level, and also clears Heat and relieves constraint — actions Jiang Huang lacks.
