- Small papules of pinpoint size
- Papules mixed with small vesicles
- Vesicles, several of which merge together
- Mild infiltration is often present, along with intense, painful itching
- Necrosis may occur

- The skin takes on a rough, itchy quality
- Localized reddening of the skin
- Erosion of the skin surface
